Ken Okuyama-Designed Alfa Romeo-Esque Sports Car Going to Tokyo Motor Show

Designer Ken Okuyama, a man who learnt his trade in Italy where he worked at Pininfarina and headed several important projects has been operating his own design studio since 2006. His first attempt at creating a sports car was the kode7 or KO7 Spider, a lightweight track-day sprinter not dissimilar at all to the KTM X-Bow, Ariel Atom or Caterham Seven.

Now, though, he has something much more curvaceous planned for showing off at the Tokyo Motor Show, if the sketch you see below is anything to go by… It’s a kind of removable top Alfa Romeo Disco Volante crossed with an old Jaguar D-Type racer – it’s clearly inspired by retro design, and we’d be surprised if it didn’t look amazing in the the metal.

Called the kode 9 or KO9, the model is shrouded in secrecy in terms of specs and figures.

Alongside it, Okuyama will also present a lightweight version of the KO7, called KO7 Clubsport. It will be a stripped-out, bare-bones version of the already familiar model which will share the motor show floor with a tractor, “various products, such as furniture, table wear and so on. We'll be showcasing our view of the Adult car life style in our booth.”
