Russia's X Driving Files: Was a Man Ejected from the Trunk in this Rear End Crash?

Yes, we have yet another mystery from Russia's roads in our hands, one that calls for an explanation. We'll try our best to offer one, but feel free to watch the following dash-cam video and provide your own.

If you fast-forward the clip (we already did it for you), you'll see an older generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class W124 saloon crashing into the rear end of what looks like a Lada (mind you, we could be wrong on this one) with a man seemingly ejected from the car's trunk!

Don't worry, it doesn't look like he was hurt or anything as he immediately got up all by himself and ran back to the car to check out the driver and passengers.

Mercedes May Bring Back Straight-Six Engines on Next E-Class

Mercedes-Benz is reportedly developing a new range of in-line six-cylinder engines that will debut on the next-generation E-Class. Straight-six engines had long been a hallmark of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, but in the mid-1990s, these powerplants were discontinued, with V6 units taking their place.

However, according to a report from Autocar, Mercedes-Benz wants to bring them back, with the new engines being part of a new modular powertrain architecture that will also include three- and four-cylinder units. The new engine family is expected to launch in 2016 on the next-generation E-Class (codenamed W213).

There are no details yet about the new inline-six cylinder engines, but Mercedes will probably launch both petrol and diesel variants. What is also uncertain is what will happen to V6 units: they could be replaced by the new straight-six units or the new engines could simply complete the range.

The upcoming C-Class is likely to get the new engine family in 2017 when its first restyling is scheduled. The three-cylinder unit will no doubt be a peculiar presence among the new engines, but the small powerplant is said to offer enough refinement to be worthy of the star brand.

The report says the future E-Class will also debut the “Autobahn Pilot” system, which is an “autonomous driving assistant with an overtaking function”. The technology will be offered on the C-Class as well.

Speaking of the C-Class, the AMG model is said to get a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission and optional all-wheel drive.

Prior Design Tune for Prior Facelift Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe

The ongoing SEMA Show is one of the best events to get the word around for custom tunes and aftermarket parts, but the internet works just as well, which is how Germany's Prior Design informed us about its PD850 Black Edition Widebody Aero-Kit for the pre-facelift Mercedes E-Class Coupe.

Available for any regular version regardless of powerplant, the Prior Design package gives the E-Class Coupe an aggressive character via an array of parts including a new front bumper with a lip spoiler and extra vents, a hood with air inlets, wider front and rear fenders, an AMG-style rear bumper, and a trunk spoiler.

To get the same look as the display car in the photo gallery, you'll have to tick a few option boxes such as the ones with the 20-inch PD1 alloys, exhaust tips or complete exhaust system, and finally, the slim daytime running lights.

Revamped 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Gets New Face, Engines and Tech [69 Photos & Video]

When the first photos of the 2014 E-Class surfaced, it was instantly obvious that Mercedes-Benz’s mid-size premium model wasn’t a simple nip-and-tuck job, as is customary with mid-life facelifts. Instead, Stuttgart’s designers had gone to the trouble of completely changing the entire front end of the car.
First of all, they ditched the four separate headlamps, an E-Class staple since 1995, in favor of a single one-piece unit on each side that encompasses all lighting elements. Mercedes says that the graphic design of the inner elements retain the “four-eyed” look while both the day-time running lights and the dipped beam have partial LED lights as standard and full LED lights are offered as an option.
For the first time, the E-Class, like the smaller C-Class, will be available with two different front-end designs. The base and Elegance trim levels feature the classic grille with three louvers and the three-pointed star on the bonnet, while the Avantgarde gets the sporty treatment with the star integrated in the grille.
In profile, the 2014 E-Class replaces the pontoon-style rear side panels with a new feature line that runs from the rear door to the elongated, LED taillights and, according to the company, emphasizes the side trim that has been shifted downwards and gives the car a more elongated shape.

We do not know if Mercedes-Benz was ready to share the revamped E-Class series with us yet, but either way, official imagery of both the sedan and Estate (Wagon in the U.S.) surfaced online today.
The E-Class refresh is more extensive than usual with the German brand affording its executive model series a brand new face that does away with the squared looks and the distinctive quad-headlight treatment for two new single-element headlights complete with integrated LED daytime running lights, a new grille with a thicker chrome surround and a restyled bumper.
The cosmetic changes on the outside continue with the freshened up side trim, the alloy wheel designs, the rear combination lights and the bumper design. The same revisions apply for Merc's spacious E-Class Estate / Wagon.
