Ford Explains Why the 2015 Mustang Remains a True Mustang in Interactive Graphic

Six generations and 50 years since the first Ford Mustang was produced, the all-new 2015 Mustang still carries over the design themes launched by the original model. The challenge for designers was to make a modern Mustang without giving up on its traditional styling cues that make it instantly recognizable.

Watch a Ford Mustang Revell Model Kit Take a Trip to Space and Back

2014 has definitely been Ford Mustang’s year so far, and it appears that the 50 years celebrations are still going strong. While previously we saw a superb Mustang sculpture, now it’s time for the first Mustang ever to be sent into space. Well, it is not a real-life Mustang, it’s a Revell model kit, but don’t imagine that just because we’re talking about a toy it was an easy thing to do.

2015 Mustang to Say Good Morning America on ABC's TV Show on December 5

Ford is pulling out all the stops for one of its biggest reveals in recent memory, the completely new and re-imagined 2015 Mustang.

Today we learned that the Blue Oval will reveal the car on ABC’s Good Morning America (“GMA”) morning talk show in New York. As pointed out by the crew at Mustang6G, the television show is set in Times Square in Manhattan and runs from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM EST, so if you happen to be there, you might as well get a live peek at it (if you do, you know our email…).

We'll remind you that the Detroit carmaker has confirmed that the 2015 Mustang will be unwrapped at 12:01am on December 5, 2013.

The unveiling will take place simultaneously in six cities on four continents, including, Dearborn, MI; New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Barcelona, Spain, Shanghai, China; and Sydney, Australia.

Shelby Brings Back the Mustang GT Package for the Budget-Minded at LA Auto Show

Shelby is trying to offer a little bit of everything to Ford Mustang owners, from the insane 1,200-horsepower 1000 S/C with an equally crazy price tag of $154,995, to the new basic GT package, presented today at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Created for the 2014 Mustang GT, which in factory grade, starts at $30,900 and comes with a 5.0-liter V8 delivering 420hp and 390 lb-ft of peak torque, the Shelby GT model will cost you an extra $14,995, raising the total price to $45,895.

Output gains are minimal, as the Shelby branded exhaust, intake and engine tune add a mere 10hp for a total of 430hp. The rest of the money goes to a number of handling bits like the Ford Racing suspension, better brakes, 20-inch alloys in performance tires, a short shifter, a different fascia, a fiberglass hood and Le Mans stripes, just to mention a few.

"Based on the standard Mustang GT, the total cost of our entry-level 2014 Shelby GT is only about $45,000, yet offers so much more than the previous model," said, Gary Patterson, Shelby American VP of Sales. "The performance-to-price ratio makes the Shelby GT perfect for any serious pony car enthusiast."

A Walk Around Ford's LA Auto Show Booth

In this post we'll be taking a zippy run through Ford's Los Angeles Auto Show stand where the Blue Oval is showing a conceptual study for a next generation mid-size SUV with a global…Edge as well as a few other interesting models.

The Edge Concept is mildly disguised version of the production car that will be added to Ford's global lineup by 2015,  previewing its design language along with some new high-tech gadgets like the push-button and remote-operated parking feature that drivers can use from either inside or outside the vehicle.

Another cool looking model at Ford's booth is the re-bodied Shelby Mustang GT500 from next year's Need for Speed movie dressed in an impressive yet sleek looking body kit and massive wheels.

One last mention should be made to the Fusion Energi research vehicle that adopts the same renewable material used to produce Coca-Cola’s PlantBottle Technology packaging for seat cushions, seat backs, head restraints, door panel inserts and headliners.

Ford Makes 2015 Mustang Reveal Date Official: December 5, 2013

No more guessing and following around the rumor mill to learn the 2015 Mustang unveiling date, as Ford just dropped a video on its YouTube channel. While the clip itself is generic and provides nothing of interest (unless you have a thing for zebras), the description that follows it does, as it states that the wraps will come off on Thursday, December 5, 2013.

Here's what it says:

"On December 5th, Ford will take the cover off the all-new Mustang, the sixth generation of the iconic pony car that will celebrate 50 years in production next year. Ford is counting down to the next chapter in the Mustang story by inviting people to share their photographic stories of inspiration using the #MustangInspires hashtag on Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms. The tagged photos and videos will appear onhttp://www.mustanginspires.com/."

We have a hunch that we'll be sprinkled with plenty of teasers until the big day, and possibly, a few leaks as well….

Thanks to Mustang6G for the heads up!

German Owner Tells the Story of Her 1965 Ford T5 Mustang

If you've been following our site, you may have read a story about how Ford was forced due to trademark issues to change the name of all Mustangs sold in Germany between 1964 and 1979 to a less-spectacular T5.

While the new name was dull, the car still featured the Mustang badge on the front grille and looked exactly like U.S. Mustangs. Few of these cars survive to this day, especially from the first series of models introduced in 1964.

However, Ford Germany tracked down one of these early Ford T5s and found out the owner of the car bought it new and maintains it in perfect condition. The video is about Käthe Lowe and her prize-winning T5 that is 100 percent in original condition and looks as if it left the assembly line yesterday.

Needless to say, after 48 years, the T5 has become a member of the family and Mrs. Lowe says it’s still her dream car. You can watch the beautiful story in the video posted below.

Ford’s Need For Speed Mustang to Pace NASCAR Sprint Cup’s Season Finale [w/Video]

The highly-customized Ford Mustang starring in the upcoming Need for Speed movie and in the Need for Speed Rivals video game will debut at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 17, where it will pace the Ford EcoBoost 400 race counting as the season finale for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The one-off Mustang will be driven by one of the Need for Speed movie’s stars, Ramon Rodriguez.

Built for the movie, the Need for Speed Mustang features a custom-designed wide body with unique 22-inch alloy wheels, and is powered by a supercharged V8 engine. In terms of output, Ford cheekily mentions that the car is "capable of supporting 900 horsepower", whatever that means…

The bonnet features larger intakes, as does the enlarged lower grille in the front bumper, Other customizations include the low profile mirrors and extended rocker panels, a redesigned front splitter, and a new rear spoiler and diffuser.

“With Mustang being a central character in this racing-oriented movie, it seemed only fitting to showcase the car here at Homestead and help serve as a great springboard to our various celebrations recognizing 50 years of Mustang in 2014,” said Steve Ling, Ford car marketing manager.

The Need for Speed movie will debut in theaters on March 14, 2014, while the Need for Speed Rivals video game will release later this month.

2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 vs. 2014 Ford Mustang GT500: And The Fastest One Is…

The Corvette and the Mustang are two of the most recognized nameplates in the automotive industry with a long and rich history. Even though, technically, they're different rides made for different folks, at the end of the day, they're both sports cars built to be fast.

All that said, it comes to no surprise that car enthusiasts are racing the two models against each other, in this case, the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 and the 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, both in bone stock form.

Before we let you go and see how the race went, allow us to refresh your memory on the cars' specifications:

- The Corvette C7 Z51 is priced from $54,795 and sports a new 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 pumping out 455HP (339 kW or 461PS) and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque.

- The Mustang Shelby GT500 starts from $54,800 and is powered by a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 producing 662hp (494 kW or 671PS) 631 lb-ft (855 Nm) of torque.

Building Custom Muscle Cars Has to Be One of the Best Ways to Make a Living [w/Video]

Brothers Mike and Jim Ring from Spring Green, Wisconsin, have been building custom cars together since 1994 and managed to make a name for themselves ever since due to the quality of their work.

Many people believe they have what it takes to customize cars, but only a few do it right. Ringbrothers is one of these companies, and the two men owe their success to hard work, burning passion and an obsession for details. Petrolicious paid the two brothers a visit to learn their story and to find out how their stunning muscle car creations are born.

The philosophy behind their tunes is simple: they modify a car to look like they think it should have been built in the first place. However, in order to do that, one must pay a lot of attention to details and the little things that make a car stand out.

Judging from the two muscle cars featured in the video, the 1965 Ford Mustang “Producer” and the 1964 Ford Fairlane “Afterburner”, it looks like they get it right most of the time.

EVO Drag Races Shelby GT500 Mustang and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe and the Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang are two different cars from two separate schools of thought that we seriously doubt will ever be cross-shopped by consumers even in North America where they are both available. In Europe, even if one wanted to, you can't officially buy the Ford.
Despite their many differences, there's one thing that both cars lay claim to being good at: straight line acceleration, and it is this aspect of the two sports models that UK car magazine EVO set out to put to the test with a good ol' fashion drag race.

It's Calendar Time: Hot Mustangs, Racy Girls and Smokin' Burnouts

To add some zest to its 2013 Calendar shoot, Ford Mustang aftermarket specialist AmericanMuscle brought some scantily dressed young models posing on the bodies of an assortment of customer cars that were selected through the company's Facebook page.
Among the many Mustangs that are featured in the calendar are a Shelby GT500, Boss 302, Laguna Seca, 2013 GT, Terminator Cobra, Bullitt, Supercharged S197, Project Blackout, Mach 1 and the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition.

2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Production Limited to 5,500 Units

Even though the 2011 Shelby GT500 carries a base price of $49,495 without any options ticked, Ford has already received more than 3,000 orders for the 550HP Mustang since the car was announced earlier this year. But despite the sales success, the Deaborn-based automaker said today that U.S. sales of the 2011 Shelby GT500 will be limited to just 5,500 units for this model year.

Ford Mustang Exotica Hides an Aston Martin Vanquish V12 Under its Hood [with Video]

We’re pretty sure that, during the time Aston Martin was under the ownership of Ford, the thought of stuffing an exotic V12 powerplant under the bonnet of a Mustang must have crossed the mind of a few company engineers.
And while we never saw something of the sort officially from Ford, an independent custom shop actually realized the idea with the 2005 Ford Mustang 'Vanquishd' show car that was presented at the 2006 SEMA aftermarket gathering.
Built by Western Motorsports, this one-of-a-kind Mustang gets a 6.0-liter V12 engine with 600 ponies from a 2001 Aston Martin Vanquish. Power is sent to the chunky rear wheels through a 6 speed manual Tremec T-56 transmission.
