All New Hyundai Sonata Officially Shows Face in Korean Spec

The Genesis-inspired look of the all-new Hyundai Sonata has not surprised us one bit, since we were already acquainted with its face via an unofficial set of low-res parking lot shots. Gone are the swooping lines of the current Sonata, as is the noticeably pronounced rising side crease, replaced with a modern facial treatment and a much more restrained styling philosophy.

2015 Hyundai Sonata: Get a Detailed Look in 70 Live Photos and Videos

As so often happens with Hyundai when it introduces new models first in its home market, the international release on the 2015 Sonata was limited to preliminary info and only a handful of photos leaving the rest for the world premiere at the New York Auto Show in April.

New 2015 Subaru Outback Spied, Rumored to Debut in New York

Do you know how many Legacy sedans Subaru sold in the Unites States last year? The answer is 42,291 cars. The reason why we mention it is that, during the same period, the Japanese firm sold almost three times as many units of the crossover-flavored version of the Legacy Estate, the Outback, with 118,049 deliveries.

New 2015 Hyundai Sonata Debut Announced for New York Auto Show 2014

WardsAuto reports that Hyundai will launch an all-new version of its popular Sonata sedan early next year, with the car to be first displayed to the public at the New York motor show in April. The news comes from the brand’s American CEO, John Krafcik, who also used the occasion to praise the current model for its success.

No information whatsoever about what it will be like was shared, though, but judging by Hyundai’s more recent design and styling efforts, we at least know it won’t look as radical as it does now. We expect it to share its cues with the likes of the new Genesis.

In the meantime, the Korean automaker will be updating the current-gen model with ventilated seats and a full-leather steering wheel to keep it appealing, as well as adjusting the production output; they say demand for it is still high, and it has one of the “lowest days’ supply in its segment” – 42 days versus 60 days for Chevy’s Malibu or fellow group brand Kia’s Optima.

Qoros Reveals its First Ever Production Model, the New GQ3 Compact Sedan

Qoros might be a brand new name in the automotive world having been formed by China's Chery Automobile Co. and Israeli investment firm Israel Corp. in late 2007, but it sure has picked up quickly on how the business works.
Borrowing a page from much older and established companies in the industry, Qoros' teaser design sketches of the exterior of its first production model left promises of a dynamically styled saloon, which as you can see, doesn't really apply to the real life car that we will come to know as the GQ3.

2013 SRT Viper First Official Teaser Leaves us in the Dark

We suppose it goes with the Viper's slithery nature to keep in the dark, but we can't say we're enthralled with the first official image of the Chrysler Group's re-branded sports car that was released just moments ago on the firm's Facebook page.
The black and white picture outlines the front end of the model, which seems like it will keep the familiar face of the previous generation Vipers, but that's about it.

We'll remind you that the new Viper drops the Dodge nameplate and adopts the SRT moniker.

In the Backseat with Serene: Hot Host Takes us for a Spin Around the 2011 New York Auto Show

Even though it may sound blatantly stereotypical to say that the majority of men like hot cars and women, well, deep inside we all know it’s true. Therefore, we can’t blame the organizers of the 2011 New York Auto Show for trying to combine the two to promote the event to the public, or at least to the social media-active male population.
If you’re still with us and haven’t followed the jump to enjoy the clips, allow us to introduce Serene; the attractive and playful female host of the 2011 New York Auto Show’s “After Dark” video series.
Serene takes us for a tour around the Jacob Javits Center, while also asking questions of the sort, “Which car has the best backseat for...ya know...backseat fun?”. Feel free to enlighten Serene with your answers in the comments section after the jump

Chrysler CEO Says Lancia Ypsilon Not Coming to the U.S. After All, while Compact Model is “Under Review”

Back in 2009, the Fiat and Chrysler alliance had revealed plans for the U.S. launch of a compact model based on the Lancia Delta in 2012 and a Chrysler-badged version of the Lancia Ypsilon in 2013.
Now it seems that the automaker has changed its strategy. At the New York Auto Show, Chrysler and Lancia brand president Olivier Francois told Car&Driver that the Ypsilon-based Chrysler model is dead for the U.S. as the company believes it is too similar with the Fiat 500, upon which the Lancia subcompact is based on, and could hurt its sales.

For the record, during a recent press event in Turin, Italy, a Lancia official told Carscoop that the Ypsilon U.S. launch would largely depend on the market's response to the Fiat 500.

Video Walkaround of Nissan’s New Versa Sedan

Even though American consumers still tend to prefer larger vehicles, both domestic and foreign automakers are convinced that soaring gas prices will eventually convince buyers to embrace more compact-sized and fuel efficient models. The 2011 New York Auto Show marked the debut of the latest crop of compact cars including the 2012 Nissan Versa sedan, which will try to lure buyers with a low staring price of $10,990 and a promise for affordable costs of ownership.
Hot on the heels of the 2012 Versa sedan’s North American premiere in New York, the Japanese brand released a new video that walks us around the four-door model that will go on sale in the U.S. this summer.

Thanks to a series of upgrades, the T6 in the 2012MYs produces 325 horsepower and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque, an increase of 21 horses and 29 lb-ft (39 Nm) of torque compared to 2011 R-Design models. Maximum torque is now achieved from 3,000 rpm and remains available throughout the rev range.

Last Stand: Mitsubishi Sends Off Eclipse with 2012 SE Special Edition Series

Produced since 2006, the fourth generation Mitsubishi Eclipse is nearing the end of its career and to mark the occasion, the Japanese manufacturer has announced a final special edition for the Coupe and Spyder models.
As Mitsubishi will cease production of the Eclipse after the upcoming 2012 model year without offering a replacement model, the SE Special Edition is the manufacturer's way of saying goodbye to a model series produced since 1989.
All Eclipse trim levels (GS, GS Sport and GT) will be available as SE Special Edition versions which includes “SE” side decals, black side mirrors and 18-inch dark finish alloy wheels, along with the high-end standard features available on the Eclipse GS Sport versions of both the coupe and convertible models.

2012 Fiat 500C Debuts in New York, Priced from $19,500

Fiat’s newly introduced 500C may not be a convertible in the real sense of the word, but the Italian company that holds the fates of Chrysler hopes to capture the attention of sun-seeking buyers with its panoramic canvas-top mini, which made its US debut at this week’s 2011 New York Auto Show.
Scheduled to go on sale this May, the new 2012 500C will be offered in two trim levels, the base Pop that is priced at $19,500, and the better-equipped Lounge, priced at $23,500. According to Fiat, the 500C is the only four-seat cabrio in the U.S. market. However, Fiat’s definition of a ‘cabrio’ is loose -to say the least- given that the 500C comes with full frame doors and columns, simply adding a rollover canvas top in place of the metal roof.
